Even if you can borrow one from a friend, it's worth a try. If this is no help, I suggest swapping the power supply with one you know is good just to test. NOTE: you may have done this already, I am unclear from your description. The unit should power up and you should get the BIOS message requesting an operating system installation media. Cross those two contacts with a screwdriver. Plug in the PS cord at the wall socket, make sure the PS switch is set to on. > As long as you are at it, pull off the front panel power switch cable at the mainboard revealing two small contacts. Remove the CMOS battery, and then either use the jumper to empty the CMOS settings, or pull the CMOS battery for 10 minutes, then snap it back in (don't reverse the polarity by mistake!) Press the front panel power switch for 5 seconds (empties the mainboard capacitors). > Power down and unplug the PS cord at the wall socket. I don't think that is the problem, but lets cover all the bases. Reset your BIOS back to factory default as follows. I like to start with simple things first. Power Supply failure, CPU failure, mainboard failure and rarely, memory failure. Low-level hardware failure is caused by one of 4 things: Since you cannot get POST on the screen, you have a low-level hardware failure. RGB lights ON THE MOTHERBOARD ONLY turn on and stay on, but no fans that are connected turn on, the CPU fan won't power on You have done a good job of testing, covered all the basics. Guess its a good learning experience for him. But I'M AT A LOSS! Of course first time build with my kid would have some major technical issues. I looked at the back of the board and nothing looks burnt or shorted out, so I've got everything apart again and out of the case ready to trouble shoot again. I don't have a hardwired mouse or hardwired keyboard and I was wondering if that somehow would prevent it from posting. I tested the power supply 24 pin plug with a multimeter and there is proper voltages coming thru the connector. I jumped the 24 pin connector and I made the power supply fan kick on. Tried booting with no USB plugs or any unnecessary plugs in the boardĬhecked the bios, and the sticker show 3.30 which I believe is current. Tried with only 1 stick of RAM only in all slots (slot A2 is preferred according to manual) Verify all stand offs are correct (no extra, no missing) Now things I have tried on top of taking apart and rebuilding unit include: XPG spectrix 8gb ddr4 3200mhz x 2 (16gb total) Ryzen 3200G w/integrated graphics (cooler included) I've got a hunch its a bad motherboard (which sucks for my first build but i guess it happens). Flip the power switch off on the PSU and the RGB lights on the MoBo turn off. When you flip the power switch on the power supply, the RGB lights ON THE MOTHERBOARD ONLY turn on and stay on, but no fans that are connected turn on, the CPU fan won't power on, nothing. But like i said it's my first real pc build so don't gate on me too hard for not knowing much.Īnyway, I've put together and taken apart this pc twice and I can't find anything wrong after searching all forums and topics and common or known issues. I'm building my first PC with my kid as a sort of fun learning experience and an excuse to get new fun gaming stuff.
